FIRPTA 10% Withholding Rule on Foreigners Selling Real Estate in the United States, Overview and Some Tips...
As many of you know, when a non-resident alien sells property located in the United States, the IRS has a 10% withholding requirement. The amount is 10% of the Selling Price, and is not based upon the profit. If nothing is done to avoid withholding, then the full 10% must be remitted to the IRS.
